 FOREST:   One quarter of leased
forests in Russia is now FSC certified
The IKEA and WWF cooperation to support Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification in Russia has contributed to the rapid increase of responsibly managed forest areas.

Since the start of FSC certification in Russia in 2000, certified areas have reached 31 million hectares, about 25% of all leased forests in the country.

All IKEA forest operations in Russia, including Swedwood Tikhvin’s leased forests, are FSC certified. IKEA actively promotes FSC certification in Russia, and suppliers are encouraged to become certified and to participate in the WWF initiative Global Forest & Trade Network (GFTN) to strengthen their commitment to eliminate illegal logging and promoting responsible forestry. IKEA also supports the Russian FSC National Initiative to develop national FSC standards and monitor the quality of certification in the country.
