What is WWF Sweden youth?

Half of the world’s population is made up of young people. Which is why we should have an obvious seat at the table. Unfortunately, that’s not what the world looks like today. Instead, many decisions about our future are made by people who won’t be around to see them in effect. That’s not how things should be.
WWF Sweden Youth is a non-profit leadership program that trains the sustainability-leaders of tomorrow. Our purpose is to give young people their rightful voice in questions of sustainability and our future. We won’t settle for yesterday’s solutions to tomorrow’s problems. We challenge old truths and develop new ways of thinking.

WE SHOULD BE SEEN, BE HEARD, LISTEN AND ACT.

Education

In addition to lecturing and holding workshops and leadership-classes in sustainability and biodiversity, we also take part in seminars, panels, debates and other forums where we can have an impact.

WSY-ikon-plantera

Inspiration

We are a group of young, strong role models who, through creativity, new ideas and innovative campaigns, inspire other young people to live more sustainably. Since we all have different interests and talents, we can make a difference in a variety of ways. We effect change and make impressions through art, poetry and fun events and activities.

WSY-ikon-ledarskap

Leadership

We are not just the leaders of tomorrow. We are taking the lead on change today by educating future sustainability-leaders. We want to see more young people in positions of power, in forums where decisions about our future are made. We are also on WWF Sweden’s board of directors and its supervisory board, to ensure that young people’s voices are heard.

WSY-ikon-earth

Forget the status quo

WSY is not here to uphold the status quo. There’s no point in walking down the same destructive path as earlier generations. That’s not a world we want to or can live in. We want to live in a sustainable world. That’s why we focus on new, innovative, earth-friendly ways of living.

Just like you, we love ourselves. That’s why we’re big fans of biodiversity. We come together and mobilize on the local and national level in order to protect endangered species. Species we are dependent on.

    About WWF Sweden Youth

WWF Sweden Youth first saw the light of day in the spring of 2014. We are a group of thirteen people between the ages of 16-23, who are replaced every two years. Our roots stretch through cities, small towns and countryside. Aside from our commitment to sustainability issues, we have different interests, educations and jobs. Our differences are what make us strong, and everyone contributes with their unique competence and willpower.

With diversity in mind, we want to boost young, strong role models and, through WWF’s values and knowledge about a living, sustainable world, give them a solid foundation to stand on. They in turn can act as role models for other young people, creating a ripple effect, and together shape the sustainability leaders of the future.

We will effect change on several levels. Partly in relation to WWF’s staff, through a mentorship program, a continuous, yearlong mutual exchange. The youths will contribute with their perspective and experiences of being young in Sweden today, while WWF’s experts share their experiences, insights and knowledge of working for more sustainable societal development. It’s a win win, simply put! WWF Sweden Youth also holds a place on WWF’s board, to ensure that young people’s voices are heard in the spaces where decisions are made!

In addition to this, WWF Sweden Youth takes part in seminars, panels, debates, forums and other contexts where there is a possibility to effect change. There are also yearly campaigns that seek to support other young people who want to be part of driving change – a campaign for young people, by young people.

We also take a project-trip together to somewhere within Sweden, in order to give youths a deeper understanding of WWF’s work and to form a strong team and lasting memories.
